How to Install Smart IPTV (SIPTV) on Samsung & LG Smart TV, Fire Stick & Android TV
Smart IPTV — commonly referred to as SIPTV — is one of the few IPTV player apps that works natively on Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen) and LG Smart TVs (webOS). This makes it uniquely valuable: most other IPTV apps require an external device such as a Fire Stick or Android TV box, but Smart IPTV lets you watch IPTV directly on compatible Smart TVs without any additional hardware.
This guide covers installing and configuring Smart IPTV on Samsung and LG Smart TVs, as well as the Android and Fire TV versions.
If you don't yet have an IPTV subscription to use with Smart IPTV, read our complete IPTV setup guide first. For a UK-focused overview of IG IPTV's channels and pricing, see the IG IPTV Complete UK Guide 2026. For a technology overview see the IPTV — The Complete Guide 2026.
What Is Smart IPTV?
Smart IPTV is a dedicated IPTV player application developed by a third party (not affiliated with Samsung or LG). Key features:
- M3U playlist support — add channels via an M3U URL
- EPG support — via an XMLTV EPG URL
- Multi-format streaming — HLS, M3U8, HTTP, RTMP
- Channel grouping — channels organised by the groups in your M3U file
- Available on: Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android, Fire TV, iOS
Important limitation: Smart IPTV only supports M3U playlists. It does not support Xtream Codes credentials directly. If your IPTV service provides Xtream Codes (server URL, username, password), you will need to convert them to an M3U URL first. See the Xtream Codes guide for how to do this.
Smart IPTV on Samsung Smart TV (Tizen)
Compatible Samsung TV Models
Smart IPTV is available on Samsung Smart TVs manufactured from 2016 onwards (models running Tizen 2.4 or later). To check your model:
- Press Home on your Samsung remote.
- Go to Settings → Support → About This TV.
Your TV's model year is shown in the model number (e.g., "UE55KU7000" indicates a 2016 model).
How to Install Smart IPTV on Samsung TV
- Press the Home button on your Samsung remote.
- Navigate to Samsung Apps or Smart Hub → Apps.
- Use the search function to search for "Smart IPTV".
- Select the app and click "Install".
- Once installed, launch Smart IPTV from your apps list.
First-Time Setup: Adding Your M3U Playlist
Smart IPTV does not include a traditional on-screen keyboard setup wizard for M3U URLs. Instead, it uses a web portal:
- Launch Smart IPTV on your Samsung TV.
- Note your MAC address displayed on the screen (format:
00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E). - On a PC, phone, or tablet, go to siptv.eu/mylist (Smart IPTV's web portal).
- Enter your TV's MAC address.
- Paste your M3U playlist URL in the "Playlist URL" field.
- Click "Send to TV".
- On your Samsung TV, press the Reload button or restart the Smart IPTV app.
Your channels will now load from the M3U URL.
Adding an EPG (Programme Guide) on Samsung
On the same web portal (siptv.eu/mylist):
- Enter your MAC address.
- In the "EPG URL" field, paste your provider's XMLTV EPG URL.
- Click "Send to TV" (or update).
- Restart Smart IPTV.
The EPG grid will now show programme information alongside your channels.
One-Time Activation Fee
Smart IPTV on Samsung (and LG) TVs requires a one-time activation payment of approximately £4.99 after a 7-day trial period. After the trial, you will see a prompt to activate the app. The activation unlocks the app permanently — there is no recurring fee.
Smart IPTV on LG Smart TV (webOS)
Compatible LG TV Models
Smart IPTV is available on LG TVs running webOS 3.0 or later (models from approximately 2016 onwards).
How to Install Smart IPTV on LG TV
- Press the Home button on your LG remote.
- Navigate to the LG Content Store (app marketplace).
- Search for "Smart IPTV".
- Select and install the app.
- Launch Smart IPTV.
Setup on LG (Same Process as Samsung)
The web portal setup process is identical to Samsung:
- Launch Smart IPTV and note your MAC address.
- Visit siptv.eu/mylist on another device.
- Enter your MAC address and M3U URL.
- Click Send to TV.
- Restart Smart IPTV on your LG TV.
The same activation fee applies (£4.99 one-time, after 7-day trial).

Smart IPTV is also available on Amazon Fire TV devices.

- Open Smart IPTV on your Fire Stick.
- Select "Add Playlist".
- Choose "M3U URL" or "Xtream Codes" depending on your subscription type.

Navigating Smart IPTV
Once your channels are loaded:

- EPG grid: Shows current and upcoming programming (requires EPG URL configured)
- Favorites: Add channels to a favourites list for quick access
- Group filter: Switch between channel groups using the on-screen group buttons
Key remote controls (Samsung/LG):
- Arrow keys: Navigate channel list and EPG
- OK/Select: Open channel
- Back: Return to channel list
- CH+/CH-: Switch channels while watching
Limitations of Smart IPTV
Compared to TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro, Smart IPTV has some notable limitations:
| Feature | Smart IPTV | TiviMate | IPTV Smarters Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xtream Codes support | No (M3U only) | Yes | Yes |
| Catch-up TV | Basic | Yes (Premium) | Yes |
| Recording | No | Yes (Premium) | No |
| VOD library | Limited | Yes | Yes |
| Series section | No | No | Yes |
| Multiple playlists | No (1 per TV) | Yes (Premium) | Yes |
| One-time fee (Smart TV) | ~£4.99 | Free / £4.99 | Free |
For Samsung and LG Smart TV users who want to avoid external hardware, Smart IPTV's limitations are worth accepting. For users on Android TV or Fire TV, TiviMate provides a significantly better experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Smart IPTV free? Smart IPTV includes a 7-day free trial. After the trial, a one-time activation payment of approximately £4.99 is required to continue using the app on Smart TVs. The Android TV version may be free or have a different pricing structure.
Does Smart IPTV work on all Samsung TVs? It works on Samsung TVs from 2016 onwards (Tizen 2.4+). Older Samsung Smart TVs running earlier Tizen versions or the original Samsung Smart TV platform are not supported.
Can I use Xtream Codes with Smart IPTV on Samsung TV? Not directly. The Samsung and LG versions of Smart IPTV only support M3U URLs. If your IPTV service gives you Xtream Codes credentials, convert them to an M3U URL using the method described in our Xtream Codes setup guide.
Why does Smart IPTV say "Invalid MAC address"?
Ensure you are entering the MAC address shown in the Smart IPTV app exactly as displayed, including colons. MAC addresses are typically in the format 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E. If the MAC address shown changes between restarts, your TV may be using a randomised MAC address — check your TV's network settings to find the fixed MAC address.
Does Smart IPTV support 4K streams? Yes, on compatible Samsung and LG 4K TVs, Smart IPTV can play 4K IPTV streams provided your internet connection supports the required bandwidth (25+ Mbps).
What is the best alternative to Smart IPTV for Smart TVs? For Samsung and LG TVs, Smart IPTV has very few direct alternatives that work natively on the TV's operating system. For a better experience, connect an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max to your Smart TV's HDMI port — this gives access to TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro with a significantly richer feature set.
